Kickstart® Walk Assist System
Kickstart® is a simple, universal, bio-inspired exoskeleton device designed to accelerate walking recovery and functional improvement in stroke, cerebral palsy, spinal cord injury patients and those with other neurological conditions. Using a patented Exotendon® technology, Kickstart amplifies a user’s walking ability, e.g., endurance, balance, gait, and stability, and offers improved independence.
Unlike robotic exoskeletons, Kickstart does not require batteries or a control system and is light weight and easy to use in clinical or community settings. Clinicians can introduce Kickstart into therapy protocols in both inpatient and outpatient clinical settings to achieve improvements more rapidly in ambulatory status. Beyond the clinical setting, it can be prescribed for personal use to sustain the positive outcomes achieved during therapy and to promote continued recovery to walking in the home and the community.
Kickstart can be introduced across a wide range of ability levels, from those unable to fully weight bear to users who walk independently but need gait refinement. It has three product series: Kickstart clincal, Kickstart personal and Kidstart(children model), and has obtained international invention patents.

EXOTENDON® Technology
The Exotendon® Technology functions like an artificial tendon to store and release energy to provide walk stability and assist limb forword throughout the gait cycle without the cost or complexity of electronics. By propelling and guiding the limb to swing correctly, the device reinforces and re-trains proper walking motions for each step, helping users to regain and maintain a natural, efficient stride.
- · Storing energy during the stance phase
- · Releasing energy during the swing phase
- · Propelling the leg and controlling gait
- · Aligning hip flexion, knee flexion and foot clearance
- Gait Correction
- Exotendon to proper gait mechanics and alignment, guidinging proper gait mechanics
- Unique ball joint to allow for natural hip movement
- Through exercise, activate the central nervous system, rebuild and solidify the correct gait pattern
- Adjustable ankle joint device to prevent foot drop
- Stability
- Exoskeleton to support and stabilize the weak limb and allow proper stepping activity of the opposite limb
- Assist the center of gravity transfer, improve gait symmetry and balance reactions
- Walk Assist
- Exotendon to provide hip assist to swing limb
- Assistance level easily adjusted to augment muscle strength and promote walking
- Enhance training endurance and gait efficiency
